Elephantine Tales
& other anectodes from the national parks of Sri Lanka.
by Srilal Miththapala
Srilal draws on his rich experience in the wild, observing and interacting with wild elephants for the past 30 years, to narrate real life stories of the life, behaviour and antics of these magnificent animals. Many of them are about the Uda Walawe National Park, where he has spent most his time studying elephants, but there are a few stories from other parts of Sri Lanka as well.
The main characters in his stories are, of course, elephants, but other animals are also featured, along with the environment and nature, all of which is close to his heart. It is a personal odyssey, with a rich tapestry of short anecdotes and stories about elephants, wildlife and nature, written with a warmth that reflects his deep love and respect of nature and its creatures.
The book is generously filled with over 80 colour photographs which enhance the stories. It is bound to be of interest both to the die- hard wildlife enthusiast, as well as to a causal reader interested in the environment.
